when a husband blackmails her wife by video clipping their private moments

Asifa’s heart was not into marrying Abid – her maternal cousin.

But being the only daughter of her parents -- they wanted her to settle with him.

Asifa had no other sibling hence her mother decided to marry her off to his nephew so that they can get a son in form of him.

Many times she tried to convince her parents about her incompatibility with Abid – but her parents wish, to get a son, shadowed her happiness and on June 6th 2006 they got married.

After her marriage she spent few days at her in-laws home -- as per to the custom – and returned back to her parent’s place with Abid.

Asifa had her own reasons of not marrying Abid. She was an educated girl working as a lecturer while Abid dealt with pharmaceuticals and wasn’t much read.

“I was no less than a son but my parents insisted on getting a one."

“I never wanted to settle for a businessman but then the happiness of my parents was more important.”

But all her apprehensions vanished as soon as they began to live together.

Abid had promised to take care of Asifa’s parents before marriage but now his family mattered more.

“Initially I felt I won’t be comfortable with Abid but things began to settle down when we got married.”

Birth of Ayesha – her daughter – will open new chapters of joy for the two, she speculated but it acquainted her with new realities of life.

Abid, with no certain reason, began to show aggression towards her.

“He felt no interest towards me. I don’t know what had happened to him. It was like all of a sudden as we never had any fights.”

He was quite a submissive person who had turned violent abruptly, she says.

“Sometimes I felt that he didn’t like our daughter and sometimes thought he has lost interest in me because I was no more the same. I would think everything I can.”

Enquiring about this sudden behavioural change, from him, was like bringing shame to myself she remarks.

“He would abuse me for simple things. He hated my parents and would abuse them also.”

For everyone in family Abid was a good guy – who would do no bad ever.

“He told me that he has made a video clip of ours. My world felt into pieces when he showed me that clip. It was my own husband who was blackmailing me.”

“It was a side of him which none ever saw. He would behave so nicely with everyone but when alone he was the real him.”

There was merely anytime when he would hold Ayesha, she recollects.

“He began to spend more time with his own family and would visit us once or twice a week.”

Abid had promised to take care of Asifa’s parents before marriage but now his family mattered more.

“When my parents would ask him about this change he would escape by saying I have my own parents too -- though there were others to take care of them.”

Abid had three other brothers that is why his mother was okay with him living with his in-laws – but just after two years of marriage he shifted back to home.

“He behaved as if he had no responsibility towards me and my daughter. He would visit me whenever he would feel the need else I was like nothing to him.”

Asifa suspected him of having a relation outside marriage – but she could collect no proof.

“I knew something was definitely wrong but I couldn’t figure out what.”

In one of those days when Abid came to visit her he was fuming with anger and moved directly to their room.

“I followed him and when I entered the room he slapped me – just because I had left Ayesha, who was sleeping, alone in the room. I yelled at him but he slapped me again and tossed me to the bed.”

She would get no answer to her questions and when Abid came up next day he did the unexpected.

“Few days before we were living like a normal couple and now he wanted a divorce from me. I struck me like a thunder but I regained my composure.”

Not only divorce he also wanted a share from her father’s property but in all this Abid wanted to come out clean – he wanted to picture the whole event in a manner that everyone would point finger on Asifa.

“He wanted divorce from me and didn’t want anyone to raise a finger on him.”

When she denied giving it Adib began to blackmail her. “He told me that he has made a video clip of ours. My world felt into pieces when he showed me that clip. It was my own husband who was blackmailing me.”

Not fearing the circumstances Asifa asked him to go according to his will.

“I felt into shock but tried hard to keep my cool. In gush of anger I pushed him out of my room but next day he came back again.”

Abid threatened her to post it on the internet but she didn’t fear.

She called out all the members of her family and told them what her husband was upto.

“Being ridiculed by everyone he was ousted by his own family.”

Asifa later discovered that Abid’s main aim to marry her was to acquire her father’s property and when he couldn’t get anything he began torturing her.

They broke off after three years of marriage. Asifa got the custody of her daughter and is today taking care of her whole family.

“I was no less than a son but my parents insisted on getting a one but today they have realised their mistake.”

Asifa says that a girl should never compromise on her happiness no matter what.
